Radon Testing

Georgia has some of the highest levels of radon. Have Conforlab test your Atlanta area home, office or daycare center by calling us at (678) 200-6516.

What is radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring soil gas that causes lung cancer. Unfortunately, radon is colorless and odorless so the only way to know if you have high concentrations is to perform a test. Some areas in Georgia are known to have higher natural concentrations than others, but everyone is encouraged to test.

Can’t I just test it myself?

Sure! You can purchase a home test kit at most local hardware stores and do it yourself. If you hire Conforlab to do your testing, we’ll test 4 locations and use more advanced technology only available to professionals. Our devices integrate the radon concentration throughout the entire analysis unlike those available at the hardware store. Furthermore, we also provide our expertise and advice if problems are discovered.

How long does it take?

The state mandates that radon tests be at least 48 hours. Conforlab offers both short term and long term testing. Short term testing is for 2-90 days, with most tests lasting a week or less. Because radon levels can fluctuate throughout the year, you may want to consider a long term test lasting up to 1 year.

Your safest bet is to do both a short term and long term test. The short term radon test will identify any immediate risk. The long term radon test will help identify intermittent problems that may not be discovered during a short term test. Call us at (678) 200-6516 to discuss which testing duration is best for you.

What does it cost?
